On the morning of April 16, a press conference was held in Beijing Great Hall of the People to announce the opening of the 4th China Hejian Craft Glass Design Innovation Competition and the 3rd China Hejian International Lighting Glass Art Festival.

The venue of the competition is Hejian City. The collection time is from June 1 to September 15, 2019, and the award time is mid-December 2019. The participants are R&D designers of enterprises, experts, professors and students of universities and scientific research institutes, and art and craft design enthusiasts from all over the country. The scope of the competition is highly related to the craft glass industry, which meets the requirements of social development and upgrading of consumption structure. Prospective innovative design products and works are required to be original works with clear theme, novel ideas and advanced and innovative consciousness.

China Hejian Technological Glass Design Innovation Competition is co-sponsored by China Arts and Crafts Association, Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts and Hejian Municipal People's Government. The Department of Industrial Design, Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, Hejian Science and Technology Bureau and Hejian City Technological Glass Industry Association are responsible for the competition.

Since 2016, Hejian City has held an annual China Hejian Craft Glass Design Innovation Competition entitled "Design Innovation, Leading the Future". Since 2017, China Hejian International Lighting Glass Art Festival has been held annually, aiming at displaying innovative achievements and leading directions of craft glass industry, providing excellent works and design talents for Hejian craft glass industry, creating Hejian as a "studio" and display platform for world craft glass design talents, and building a bridge between design, research and production enterprises. The new design concept stimulates the innovation ability of Hejian process glass, and comprehensively promotes the cooperation level and design innovation level of Hejian process glass industry, University and research.

Craft glass industry in Hejian has nearly 40 years of development history. In recent years, Hejian City has been focusing on innovative development, green development and high-quality development, aiming at promoting technological innovation ability and enhancing industrial development vitality. It has focused on cultivating and strengthening characteristic industrial clusters of process glass, promoting the transformation of new and old kinetic energy, innovative development ability and industrial design ability, and continuously deepening and expanding. More "Hejian elements" have been injected into the field of glass industry. It has developed the "small workshop" 40 years ago into today's "big industry", with 252 registered enterprises and nearly 60,000 employees. It has formed a product system of seven categories and thousands of specifications. Its output value in 2018 is 5.5 billion yuan, and its products are exported to North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
